Welcome to the wonderful world of Loopweaving™. It has been my own personal creative world for some time now. While I don’t recall the exact day that I first began loopweaving™, I do have a fond memory of what I was doing at the time. About 4 years ago I and a very special little girl were busy making small items for a miniature doll house. I was busy crafting a very small rug attempting to create a tiny version for the doll house. As I pulled one small loop of yarn thru another I was reminded of myself as a child making simple chains with string. As I continued to pull one loop thru another a pattern began to form. My fingers seemed to know exactly what to do next. Before I knew it I had crafted my first loopweaving™ project.
The
small simple weave was accomplished by looping several strands of yarn together.
This loopwoven spiral disc of yarn has since become the base pattern for many
more items. In particular soft pots - being the most innovative in appearance
and fun to make.
I
suppose soft pots came about because of my love of baskets. All shapes, all
sizes. So the idea of coming up with a basket-like container made from woven
yarn was irresistible, hence the soft pot was born. Once I got started I just
kept making more and more soft pots. Loopweaving™ was fun and crafting the
soft pots while blending a wide variety of yarn textures and colors was fun. I
just never got tired of making new ones. As time has passed I’ve come up with
more and more creative patterns and designs for soft pots. Large ones, and small
ones in a variety of different shapes and styles. I’ve created more wonderful
patterns and designs than I can list here. Just a few are:
Soft Pot Expressions™ (miniature soft pots in a wide variety of shapes containing
little floral arrangements that match the color scheme of the flowers.)
The
Softsleeve™ (A soft pot that slips over any existing container for an instant
decor change.)
The
Softbed Sleeper™ (customized pet beds.)
Softops™
(whimsical hats) and so on. When I discovered how versatile soft pots could be
as decor items I began giving them as gifts. As a result requests for written
directions began.
It took more than a year to write easy to understand and follow directions for learning the basics of loopweaving™. That was much harder to accomplish than I had thought it would be. This first loopweaving™ ebook of learning is just the beginning. But I’ll need the help of lots of future loopweavers to make this unique method of crafting yarn all that it can be.
